“There are times in your life you are flung into an undiscovered country of being, a place beyond time and tide and detail, the full magical breath of you heaving with the indescribable joy of being, and you realize then, that parts of you exist in exile and completeness is journeying to bring them home.” - Richard Wagamese

  • I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the state of Vermont’s Allied Mental Health Practitioners (Credential #: 097.0135713) and have a PhD in Sociology from Duke University.

While a bit nontraditional from paths that emerge from Psychology or schools of Social Work (MSW, LiCSW) and Mental Health Counseling (LMHC), my PhD in Sociology created a framework for understanding people as complex systems whose identities and the structural systems in which they operate (including, but not limited to: race, socioeconomics, and gender) are deeply interwoven with their minds and behaviors.

This holistic level of study put me on a path to complete advanced trainings for each of the modalities in which I have specialized over the past fifteen years: Somatic Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Insight, Somatic Attachment Therapy, Inner Relationship Focusing (IRF), and Polyvagal Therapeutics for Trauma Recovery.

Furthermore, the enhanced accessibility inherent in my credentialing is personally important to me with respect to equity. I feel strongly that therapy should be available to anyone who needs/wants it and this credentialing allows me to support individuals across state lines and regardless of insurance coverage with a “you choose” sliding scale, thereby reaching clients from a greater diversity of financial and geographic situations than might be possible otherwise.

  • I joyfully accept clients who are 14-years and older. (I will occasionally make an exception but 14-99 years of age is my “sweet spot”).

  • Yes and yes! Sessions can occur remotely (via a secured digital platform) or in-person at my office in Norwich, VT. I also offer walking sessions—when the weather cooperates!—for clients who prefer steady movement to sitting.

  • While I typically see clients during business hours Monday-Friday, I do reserve some evening slots for those needing slightly later appointments beginning at/after 5pm.
